Children's Dental Care in Brighton

Mountain View Family Dental welcomes children as part of our family dental practice. Dr. John Schmidt is a general dentist, not a pediatric dental specialist, and he personally provides the children's dental treatment offered in our Brighton office.

A note on dentistry for children: Mountain View Family Dental is a general dentistry practice. Dr. John Schmidt is a general dentist, not an ADA-recognized specialist, and provides dentistry for children as part of general practice. Where treatment is better handled by a specialist, we will refer you.

Children's Dental Care

Family Dental Care for Children

Our goal is to help children understand what is happening, build useful home-care habits, and become comfortable with routine dental visits.

Preventive and Restorative Care

Children's visits may include examinations, cleanings, x-rays when needed, fluoride, sealants, and treatment for tooth decay. Recommendations are based on the child's age, development, dental health, and ability to manage treatment comfortably.

A Calm First Visit

We use straightforward explanations and a pace that suits the child. A parent or guardian can tell us about previous experiences, sensory needs, or worries before the appointment so the team can prepare.

When a Referral May Be Needed

Some children benefit from care by a pediatric dental specialist, especially when treatment is complex or cannot be completed comfortably in a general dental setting. When that is the better option, we will say so.

Questions About Children's Dental Care

When should my child first visit?

Call us to discuss the timing for your child. Earlier visits can help a family establish prevention and give the child a low-pressure introduction.

Can siblings be scheduled together?

Often, yes. Call the office and we will look for times that work for the family.

What if my child is nervous?

Tell us when you book. We can explain the visit in advance, use simple language, offer breaks, and avoid rushing the appointment.
